So we did a tour and diner at The Macallen estate in Aberlour / Speyside Scotland. Totally recommend the place for both the tour and eating (this review will only talk about the dinner).
The dinner was a wine pairing dinner. The dinner menu below has all the details of the food we tried, and the pictures are in the order of the dishes listed (except the bread, which I am highlighting since it is made from the same grains as the whisky).
Some call outs from the dinner:
-the fermented barley was my favorite dish. I think it’s the gravy type sauce that got me
-beef tar tar was second, followed by the halibut and then pancetta
-the “angel share” desert was the most unique, in the sense that the it had this “bubble” foam that you can eat, but also was infused with helium so it did float away, and your voice was pitched when you ate it
-tiramisu was nothing to write home about
