The Malt Room

We went to this highly recommended whisky bar for our last place in Inverness. Got the chocolate flight. Here ate the notes:

-Tomatin 14 year: fairly sweet (sweeter than Glenlivet), but tasted great. Paired with a chocolate that tasted just as sweet

-Oban 14: classic drink. The slight saltiness was paired with a salty chocolate

-Kilchoman: expectedly peaty, and they chose to pear it with a toffee chocolate

Great experience overall. Would come back.

The Bellwood

Went here because of a recommendation from a bartender in Hiroshima (unfortunately the bartender in Tokyo did not hear of the bar in Hiroshima, Bar Alegre).

They serve omakase with a reservation. Would definitely be down to try in the future.

First, they started off mentioning their menu (which is a book) has six “courses”. First thought I had to participate in each one, but did not.

Second, they pair everything with something to eat! Incredible.

First drink was called “Rob is in Town!”. (Ingredients are below, but basically a twist to a Rob Roy).

Second drink was a twist of a Sazerac (mango sorbet, absinthe, sweet wine, smoky whisky). Also look at the shape of this ice cube. It’s an octagon! And it has an actual mango sorbet on top of it.
