We went here for our last dinner in Scotland! My travel companion wanted pies, and this place was highly rated.
To start, got an Aperol Spritz, and their scallops. It’s were great.
For the pies we did their beef pie and chicken pie. Also got a side of Mac and cheese. All were fantastic.
Really glad we checked this place out.
We went to this place for lunch from a recommendation from a person we met last night at a bar. (Also we found out the next day it’s actually attached to our hotel, Kimpton Charlotte Square).
To start got an espresso martini. They made it the classic way, which you usually can’t go wrong (unless you use really bad espresso).
For food, got a shareable bbq meat platter (lamb, chicken wings and pulled pork) plus a side of cous cous. Thought it was good for 2 people.
Overall, would come back.
We stopped by here after our visit to Oban Distillery (since Oban town is known for seafood).
For apps, got the calamari. It was bomb.
For the main got the haddock fish and chips (learned that the haddock, although cheaper, is actually better than the cod for fish and chips because it is sweeter. But cod is better for grilling).
Overall, would come back if I wanted fish and CB ips. Although the fries aren’t as crispy as I would normally like them.
We decided to start the day with a Scottish breakfast, so we went here.
On the menu there is an item called the full Scottish Breakfast, where you could select 7 items of these: fried egg, bacon, linked sausage, black pudding, lorn sausage, black pudding, haggis, tattie scone (a grilled flat potato), toast, mushrooms. Chose the first 7 of these.
I will say it was great to come here for a Scottish breakfast, but would only get these again: bacon, lorne sausage, and tattie scone.
We went to this highly recommended whisky bar for our last place in Inverness. Got the chocolate flight. Here ate the notes:
-Tomatin 14 year: fairly sweet (sweeter than Glenlivet), but tasted great. Paired with a chocolate that tasted just as sweet
-Oban 14: classic drink. The slight saltiness was paired with a salty chocolate
-Kilchoman: expectedly peaty, and they chose to pear it with a toffee chocolate
Great experience overall. Would come back.
First meal for my second trip to Scotland.
We drove from Edinburgh, and got a late dinner here at Elgin.
The vibe of the restaurant was great. To start got an Aperol spritz, and did their Garlic “prawns” to start (really it was just shrimp).
We got their pepperoni pizza as the main. It did have an unexpected spicy kick to it.
I would come back again (but perhaps try another pizza, but not to say the pepperoni was bad).
