Cup Pasta

Tried this place for lunch since it was right beside our Airbnb in Brussels.

Overall, it was ok. I would come back if there was nothing else really around.

I got the small pasta with the sauce that says “cream, cheese and bacon” with penne, and added chicken.

Mykonos Pitta Gyros

Went here for a late dinner.

Got the Gyro with fries and cabbage. Thought it was ok, but I think the Gyro could have been more fresh. It’s a good late night place, but would probably only come back for food after a late night of partying.

Aksum Coffee House

Went here for our first coffee in Brussels.

Got a latte. Although current Google rating is 3.4 stars, it was actually pretty good. Also seems like a good place to work. Would come back. Just have to remember to ask them to not make it super hot.

La Terrasse

We went here for our first meal in Belgium (Brussels).

Overall, food was okay, but wouldn’t actively come back here again (although google ratings are good for this place ).

For a drink, tried a Chimay for the first time (which is a darker Belgium beer). Thought it was great, but you could definitely feel the alcohol with it.

For starters, got the shrimp salad. I would say it was just okay. For the main, got the ribeye steak with mushroom sauce. It came with salad and fries. Fries were slightly larger than what I was used to (apparently they are called steak fries). As mentioned, food was just okay (but if I for some reason ended up back here, I would not not order things again).

Freddo Freddo

We checked out this place because I was craving an affogoto.

The barista was great. She gave us free samples upon eneterinf, and she understood English (and what an affogoto was). The flavor I ended up getting was a hazelnut gelato. Would come back here (and my stomach didn’t get upset after this).

Prep’ La Crepe

Started off the third day of Madrid having coffee and lunch at this place.

So this was the first time I had a savory crepe, and it was delicious. Got a simple one (ham y cheddar). It was good, but would get the one my friend got next time (his had mushrooms, cheese, bacon and egg). Also got a latte. Would recommend this place.

Casa Mingo

We went to this place from a recommendation from someone at work that grew up in Madrid.

Although the drink selection was limited (no Cava), the food was great. For drink, I stuck to white wine (although they have a cider that they are known for. It was pretty good, but could only have two sips).

For food, the tortilla potatas was great (it was not just a simple tortilla), and the chicken was basically so juicy (it fell off). We also got jaman and some sort of cheese (almost tasted like guda mozerella). This was a great recommendation, and would definitely go back.

Restaurante Casa Benigna

On our second night in Madrid we wanted to eat at a great paella place, and we did!

This place is rated 4.5 on Google, and usually requires a reservation. Fortunately, they did let us in (although the door was locked when we got there).

The place was a bit fancy, but still let us in with shirts and shorts. For drinks, got a white wine that was a tad bit sweet (supposedly pairs great with the paella we ordered).

To start, they gave us some vegetable sticks / fruit sticks, as well as bread with butter that felt and tasted like cheese (soooo good). Also served a cold tomato soup called Gazpacho. Also great!

To start, got the tomato salad. Great way to start a meal by eating healthy.

For the main paella, got the seafood paella and a chicken and pork paella. Both were great, but I liked the seafood one better (others in the group found the other paella better).

For desert, got the apple pie (which almost seemed like an inverted apple pie). Also great! They also gave us complimentary melted chocolate and cookies.

Would come back here again in a heart beat.

Syra Coffee

We went to this place for the first round of coffee in our 2nd day in Madrid.

I was about to get an iced mocha, but the barista insisted I get an iced latte so I could taste the actual flavor of the coffee. He also weighed the grinded coffee. Would come back here again.

Restaurante Gloria Bendita Madrid

Stopped by this place for brunch for our second day in Spain.

Again, they didn’t know what a mimosa was (I should literally walk around with orange juice so I can add it to Cava, which literally is champagne), so I ordered an aperol spritz.

For the meal, we ordered a mixed salad, Jaman croquette and garlic shrimp. Gotta say, the garlic shrimp was awesome. Would order everything again, but still calling out the shrimp.
