The Stand

Usually we come to this place just for the stand up portion. However decided to try out the restaurant.

The clutch move about eating here before the show is that you get 10% off the food bill, and they save your seat at the show itself (which is usually downstairs( if you are not yet done eating. We started eating at 9pm, so we went the route of them saving our seat.

For drinks got the espresso martini without simple syrup.

For food, we ended up getting the shrimp cocktail, the porkchop, a steak, and the tagliatelle pasta all great options.

(FYI you can order all these at the actual show as well, but I liked eating them before the show).

The Parlour Room

We went here on a night we landed in New York City. We were staying near Penn Station, and wanted a place with some seafood, steak, and a full bar. Their whisky selection was awesome (see the pic below).

It is recommended to get a reservation beforehand since it does get full easily (although you can also eat at the bar).

For main courses got the crab dip, the seafood tagliatelle (had shrimp, clams and mussels), and the filet mignon. I would get all of them again.

For drinks, did a Japanese flight (note you can only get 1 flight for your whole visit). They have a cool placemat for the flight glasses (see below), and they tell you the background of each one. Two things that stood out. First is that the Shibui wishing was a pure malt, (which is different from a single malt since that whisky comes from two distilleries, but the families are related). For the Kaiyo whisky, apparently their requirements is that the oak tree is 350 years old (partly due to the fact it is endangered).

I also did get a whisky sour, which was also good.

Oh, and we finished off with a crème brûlée.

Alviz

We found this restaurant by basically following our noses. The smell from the outside was of really good pizza.

When we got to the restaurant, they took us to the back where there was garden seating.

I got tagliatelle with beef (in some sort of mushroom sauce). It was really good. Also paired it with Prosecco, and have to admit the Prosecco here is also really good (there’s a hint of sweetness to it, and it isn’t too bitter. Definitely would come back here again.

PS. Also tried my friend’s mushroom chicken and grilled zucchini, and they did not disappoint.

Lo Stivale D’oro

We checked out this Italian place for dinner.

This place was great, but the one thing they lacked was a selection of meat. They have seafood, but you can’t order chicken, beef or pork (they only have bolognese sauce).

So I ordered the Tagliatelle with scampi. Overall, I enjoyed the pasta, but I think taking apart the scampi was too much effort. Still a good place I would check out again.

Also, for a drink I got an Aperol Spritz, which was ok since it was sweet, but it also had this bitterish type taste I wasn’t fond of.
