Miss Tess

We tried this Asian fusion restaurant for lunch, which was conveniently located in our hotel in Dubai (Taj Hotel). Service here was excellent.

For drinks got the whisky sour and the Mulin Rouge. Didn’t really like their whisky sour (it wasn’t sweet at all). A friend got a drink with ube infused vodka, which I though my actually tasted good.

For appetizers, they served some Asian chips with some dips (best one was the plum sauce one). We also ordered the shrimp Cheung fun dimsum and the chicken Sui Mai. The former was great, the latter, well let’s just say I prefer it with pork.

For main, got the black cod and the pad Thai. Both were excellent (pad Thai had a bit too much sauce, but didn’t mind it).

Momo (Amsterdam)

First dinner in Amsterdam (3rd trip), which was conveniently located at our hotel.

For drinks, got an Aperol Spritz, and a whisky drink (Glen Morangie).

For food, Chicken skewered with peanut sauce, tempura, spicy tuna roll, Momo roll, Alaskan king crab roll, lobster roll, and a side of pad Thai. Would get everything again.

Selllva

We went to this restaurant for dinner near the hotel in the Baixa area. It was focused on healthy style Asian food.

For drinks, got a rum drink with pineapple juice.

For appetizers, got the Vietnamese spring rolls. It was purely vegetarian with peanut butter sauce. Thought it was ok.

For the main, got the pad Thai with chicken. Honestly, it was ok. Could order it again, but there is this tuna dish I would try next time.

For desert, we tried the hot brownie with ice cream. Because it is supposed to be healthy, it wasn’t as sweet as I wanted it to be.

Obao (53rd St)

So we went here for New Years since I wanted Asian fusion. This place did not disappoint.

From below, all but 1 dish were amazing, and I would get them all again.

Some of the dishes below: pad see-ew, pad Thai, catfish, steamed dumplings, pork belly, and salt and pepper shrimp.

They also had lychee martinis 🙂

The one dish from below I didn’t like was the brown/red beef dish.

Thai Villa

An interesting Thai restaurant.

I got their lunch special, which includes a soup plus their version of sui mai, plus pad Thai. I thought the Pad Thai was ok.

Next time I think I’ll try their pad see-we.

Siam Square Thai Restaurant

We tried out this place after we couldn’t get seated at Le Thai.

I got the Pad Thai with pork from this place. I have to say, it was pretty terrible. Also, the pork was not good quality at all (not sure how it has more than 4 stars in Yelp).

The one thing I will say though is that the soup they served as a free starter was really good.

Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine

We went here on NYE, and they had a special set dinner. Overall, I enjoyed the food, especially the pre-appetizers.

The one thing that did stand out was the Pad Thai. It was very delicious. I also remember the prawns being good. Although next time I’d probably go here not before an event that requires you to not be full.

Blackwood

This is a great brunch place. I loved it the first time, and the second time did not disappoint.

The bottomless mimosa deal is definitely a good reason to go here. Only $22, and they are very good at refilling your drink.

The bacon in the middle of the first picture (not sure what it was called, but maybe millionaire’s bacon?) was really good.

We also ordered pad Thai. It also did not disappoint.

One interesting is the last picture, which was a shooter of some sort. It was a good start of the meal.

I would order everything pictured below again.

May’s Vietnamese Restaurant

Shouldn’t be a surprised I ordered the pad Thai. Although unfortunately I won’t be getting it again at this pace. It was super salty. I should try the pho or some sort of vermicelli dish next time.

I will say though the fried rice that came with someone else dish was pretty good. Although they did comment they thought the meet was old.
