Sonora Grill

We went to this place for dinner after going to the Soumaya Mueseum in Polanco (Mexico City).

Like the rest do the area, it’s fairly up scale. Lots of high rise buildings and big naked companies.

This restaurant was located in a high end mall. Definitely the vibe was great.

For drinks, each whisky drink required that you order a double (so about 23 usd for two shots of Glenlevit). Deal was pretty sick.

For starters, they started us of (for free) with some nachos and dip (that seemed to have cheese and beans). For appetizers, we got the cauliflower, beef tacos, beef wrapped asparagus, quesadilla sampler and octopus. Would get the first three again.

For our main, shared the ribeye steak (medium rare) with mushrooms and spinach’s sides. Would get all but the mushrooms again.

For desert, we got a variety of cakes (not exactly sure which ones). Would get any cake there again.

Lisboa Tu & Es

Translated to You and Me Lisbon, this place was a great find. Had lots of local foods, and it’s in Alfama area of Lisbon which I enjoyed.

We had a bunch of (what seems to be local seafood) dishes to share. For alcohol, it’s mainly beer and Sangria only. The local cheap beer around here seems to be called Superbock. The sangria was good, since it seemed to be a bit carbonated.

For food, got the fried chicken (lol which was not fried at all), sardines, this sweet rice with shrimp, fish cake, octopus salad, some other things pictured below (not sure of the name), and pastel de nata.

Would recommend this place and come back in a heart beat (it takes cash only though). Would also order everything again.

Taverna Kyclades

A great Greek place at the east side of New York.

Got the octopus to share for appetizers (by far the best Octopus I have eaten). Then got the Seafood pasta (basically an awesome seafood linguini as pictured below).

Paella Bar

We grabbed lunch in this place that is in St Josep Mercat.

Had a couple of appetizers and of course, a paella. For the apps we got the lobster and duck croquet, and an octopus dish. Both were great. For paella, it was the Catalana Paella, which had sausage, chicken, prawn and mussels. It was also really good.

Piccino

I really unique Italian restaurant, where their main dishes don’t center around pasta.

We ordered a bunch of dishes. We got the [kenne aged goat cheese, spring compote, sparrow brea], a salad with octopus, [garden greens, shallots, herbs, breakfast raffish, and red wine vinaigrette], the funghi pizza, and one pasta dish (pictured below) that I can’t seem to recall the name. All dishes were good, but what I would definitely order again when I’m there is the 2nd, 4th and 5th dishes I mentioned.

We also ordered red wine to go with our meal, which made a great pairing.

Barvale

We went here for tapas and drinks, and I would definitely come back.

We ordered a bunch of dishes. The best ones by far (although the other ones were good as well) were the mushrooms, the meatballs, the and the octopus dishes.

For drinks, I got a lemon drop. Next time I would try their specialty ones on their menu.

Martins West Gastropub

Straight off, I thought the food and the drinks were really great. The food portions is a bit small for the price, but still I was very satisfied.

For drinks I got a martini (not sure of the name, but it had grapefruit, and it it was still very sweet), and something called a new fashion (a sweet twist to an old fashion. It had some Apple liqueur in it).

For food, we got one appetizer, and three shareable plates. The appetizer was wings (which without the sauce, I thought they were cooked really good, not dry at all). The shareables were an octopus salad (also cooked just right), Mac and cheese, and pork belly toast.
