Starbucks – Gion District

We went to a Starbucks in one of the really older parts of the Gion district called Masuyacho. This Starbucks is not only in a really old “house”, but you get to sit on the floor while eating / drinking (aka eating Japanese style).

I ordered a mocha, and a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich. The interesting thing about this one is that it also had ketchup in it (the Japanese love their ketchup).

Green Flash

Tried out this place for a caffeine pickup.

This place is pretty comparable to Kona Coffee and Tea (ie it is a bit watery). But what turned me off about this place is the service. The cash register person seemed like she really wanted to rush me out (ie I said I would be ordering several drinks, and she wanted to check me out when I just ordered one drink). For this reason I wouldn’t come back to this place (although the mocha I ordered was acceptable. Also, the green flash smoothie that someone else ordered was pretty good).

Blue Bottle (Hudson Yard)

Same great taste as the SF locations. I got a mocha, of course. In addition, I tried the caramel chocolate chip cookie, and it is by far the best cookie I have ever had. In the center was basically a hard layer of chocolate. But combined with the Carmel, the sweetness was just right (somehow it was not overly sweet). Need to check if this cookie exists in the SF location.

Walton’s Fancy and Staple

We got brunch at this place in Austin.

I would go back (as they have mimosa carafes), however, they completely did not have my order lol.

For brunch, I ordered crab cake and egg Benedict’s. I modified the eggs to be scrambled. However, they did not have the crab cake, so they replaced it with sausage.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

Tried a Mocha at this place. And I have to say, it tasted better than Starbucks (apparently there is also two shots of espresso, although I didn’t exactly feel it). The taste is almost like a chocolate milk.

Fleca & Cafe

Started off my morning with a (hot) mocha. This place served it in an interesting way, where it is layered and in a cup I usually expect a cold drink to be in.

I also got this small croissant filled with Nutella (no picture). It was insanely good!

Rosso (Inglewood)

Visited this cafe as my start to walk around Inglewood. The cafe reminded me of blue bottle (both the hipster ambiance and the coffee itself). I gotta say that I did like the mocha I ordered. However, blue bottle still has Rosso beat (there is an interesting, but not necessarily bad, after taste with Rossi’s mocha).
