Maque

For our first brunch in Mexico, we decided to check this place out.

This place was a good mix of American and Mexican food/ brunch.

Of course got mimosas and a latte. Both were great, but not really strong (they didn’t fill the mimosas up all the way, only half way, and put half orange juice).

The food was excellent. Got the Ranchero, Fritos o a la Mexicano (scrambled eggs with ham, and a side nacho situation with made it have a touch of Mexico, plus beans).

I would come back here again (even though they had the watered down drinks).

Sons of Essex

Technically this is a bar, but we went here for a brunch.

I would come back, bout would definitely order some things over others.

For drinks, mimosas and Irish coffee were great. (Next time I would also try the espresso martini).

For food, I got scrambled eggs and Canadian bacon. The eggs were good, but would probably get regular bacon over Canadian bacon next time.

We also ordered the mac and cheese with bacon. Highly recommend.

Also, will say the owner was very easy to talk to, and there was a DJ playing great top 40 edm music.

Cindy Rooftop

We lucked out and were able to eat at this rooftop at brunch. The rooftop is at the hotel we stayed at in Chicago called Chicago Athletic Association. One of us basically put our name down early in the day, and we eventually got in (14 people before us on the wait list).

Got the traditional brunch food… mimosa, and the Cindy breakfast (scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes). All were great and would get them again.

Also, the rooftop view is pretty good (you can see the bean from up top).

Kitchen Story

Definitely a brunch place I would go back to.

For drinks, most of us got bottomless mimosas (for only $20). Definitely worth it (only thing though is the glasses they gave us were mason jars. I wanted a regular wine glass).

For my main course, I got something called the RibEye Omurice. It was really good. The ribeye itself was minced and mixed into the rice. The scrambled egg on top had this sweet sauce on it that was also good.

For “dessert”, we shared a deep fried French toast (which has a cheese called mascarpone). Very delicious.
