Noto

For our second day at Edinburgh, we decided to try this Michelin star restaurant for lunch.

The menu is fairly simple, and they mentioned we should order 2 to 3 dishes per person.

We ended up getting the North Sea crab, the trout temaki, arbroath smoke croquettes, and the okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake).

I would say the first two items I would get again. For 3rd, it was too salty, and the 4th I didn’t like the ginger.

For drinks got an espresso martini. That was good. And for desert got the chocolate ice cream (hidden inside is a lava cake) and strawberry hibiscus meringue (hidden inside is the strawberry sauce you put on waffles). The deserts were amazing.

Overall I would come back, it probably replace the last two dishes with others.

San Ho Wan

Went to this Michelin star restaurant on a Sunday night. Great KBBQ place.

For drinks, got a plum soju (2nd picture). It wasn’t really sweet at all, Whig was surprising, but good.

We got most of the meats on the menu (wish I paid attention to the ones we didn’t get). For the sauces that come with them, only one I really liked (it was the sweet one. One of them was wayyy too spicey.

Tl;dr, would get everything below again.

Bouchon

We tried this restaurant after visiting Artesa winery in Napa. Note that it took a friend one month to get a reservation! (Also it’s a Michelin star restaurant.

For drinks, got the brut rose and a lemon drop. Both drinks were good (what not amazingly special).

For appetizers, we got the pate, tartare, escargot and deviled eggs. I actually liked all of it.

For the main, got the salmon. Probably shouldn’t have asked for it to be super well done, but still I enjoyed it (also like the cous cous it came with). I did try the steak from someone else. I thought it was too salty.

Bouchon also has a bakery beside it. I got the chocolate macaron, and gotta say, it was the best macaron I’ve ever had! The brownie from there is also good.

In short, I would definitely go back to the bakery. The restaurant I would eat again at, but wouldn’t go out of my way to make a reservation a month in advance.
