Bagatella

Tried this restaurant in the Marina district in San Francisco. Would definitely come back.

First, their bread was really good. It was fresh, and the garlic butter in came with was great.

For drinks got an Aperol Spritz.

For appetizer, got the meatballs and the gnocchi. Both great.

For my main course, got the seafood linguini. Also great, but wished the scallops were the larger ones (they were just bay scallops).

Finished off with key lime pie. No complaints there.

Eva’s Garden

We came here for dinner on our first night in Mykonos.

For drinks, got an Aperol Spritz. For appetizers, we shared a Greek meatball dish called Soutzoukakia. It tasted like a traditional meatball dish, but still pretty good. Also got some fried feta. It was alright, but prefer mozzarella sticks.

For my main, got penne with salmon. It was great, and again, great portion size.

Athinios Restaurant-Cafe

Went here to grab lunch before our ferry from Santorini to Mykonos took off.

Place was good, but wish they served cocktails (it was on their menu!).

For drinks, got a Rose (pretty standard). For food, we got tzatziki with pita (the tzatziki itself was really good, but the pita bread was meh compared to others we had tried in Greece), and a mixed salad (felt pretty refreshing).

For the main, I wanted to try something Greek. In the menu, they listed spaghetti and meatballs under it, so I gave that a try. It was pretty good, but didn’t really see what was so “Greek” about it (tasted like a traditional spaghetti).

Overall, a good place to wait for your ferry, especially since they had a screen you could use to watch you ferry come in.

Fable

Tried out this restaurant for a friend’s birthday out in the Castro. Menu is fairly small, but if I were in the area I would go back.

For drinks got a glass of sparkling wine (not sure of the name, but pretty standard), and a Malbec (friend I was with loves that red wine).

For the appetizers, we shared meatballs, pig cheeks, and a salad. All were great.

For the main, I got a double cheese burger that was well done. Thought it was pretty good (but maybe next time I’ll try the pork chops).

Skinos

So this place has a really great vibe (almost Vegas like), good music, and really good food. We actually went back twice in one trip!

For drinks, has an espresso martini and mimosa.

For appetizers, has the fried calamari, the thinly sliced fish (what do you call that?), and the meatballs.

For the main (not sure why I don’t have a picture), got the lobster pasta and the beef brisket. Both were great, and would get them again).

Allegro

After a long night of partying, Eric and I went to this place to grab a decent bite to eat.

We ordered a couple of appetizers and old fashioned a, all of which were great. For the apps, we got the meatballs, fries, and a margherita pizza.

Xanh

I’m surprised I haven’t posted about this place. Basically we usually go here for happy hour (Monday to Thursday, from 4:30 to 6:30).

For drinks, I usually get the lychee martini ($8 during happy hour).

For the appetizers themselves, I have to say the pot stickers are really good, and so are the wings. The garlic noodles are good (but some people I was with do not agree). The meatballs are ok, but definitely not as good as the potstickers.

Barvale

We went here for tapas and drinks, and I would definitely come back.

We ordered a bunch of dishes. The best ones by far (although the other ones were good as well) were the mushrooms, the meatballs, the and the octopus dishes.

For drinks, I got a lemon drop. Next time I would try their specialty ones on their menu.

Urban Tavern

Overall, not sure if I would come back to this place. The atmosphere was great, but it was a bit pricey and the food was meh.

The drink I started off with was the Harvest Martini. It was basically a pear martini, and I think I expected it to be sweeter (I don’t think I’ll get it again). The second drink I got, which was a cosmo, was good.

This place had good “small plates”. We got the chicken meatballs and the pork belly waffles. The chicken meatballs came with basically a sauce that was hot sauce, and blue cheese (I’m not a huge fan of hot sauce, and a huger not fan of blue cheese). The pork belly waffles were great though.

For the main, I got the pastrami spiced pork tenderloin. Honestly, it wasn’t that great (a bit dry, and the taste was meh). The Jidori Peking chicken on the other hand was good (I should’ve got that).

For dessert, we got the s’mores sundae. That was really good.

Fondue Cowboy

First place in the US that I tried out fondue at a restaurant.

We ordered the Lonestar and Outlaw fondues. The Outlaw was pretty spicy, but probably the favorite or of my two. Both were good, but after eating a good amount you start getting the cheeses salty after taste.

The fondues game with some fruits/vegetables and bread. We ordered meatballs and cured sliced meats as an add on. The meatballs were a lot easier to eat the fondue with compared to the sliced meat. I definitely Italy want to try the sausages next time.

For a drink, I tried the mango moscato. It was sweet, but not too ice wine sweet. I would order it again.
