Sole Seafood & Grill

Last dinner in Dublin, and got this recommendation from our Guinness Storehouse tour guide.

For food, got the scallops (would get them again), the burrata (I might not get this one again since the tomato it came with was dried tomatoes, instead of what I was expecting which was fresh tomatoes), and the seafood platter (yes yes and yes would obviously get this one again), with a side of fries. Also one of the bread they have is was soda bread which is popular in Ireland (since it is made out of Guinness). not my first choice, but when in Ireland would get it, and it was good dipping into the butter sauce of the lobster.

For drinks, got prosecco, whisky sour and pisco sour. All but the pisco sour were good (Limon has wayyy better pisco sours).

Overall great experience and vibe. Would recommend this place.

Almeja

This is a Michelin recommended restaurant, and it did not disappoint!

We started off with the pig’s head terrine toast. Didn’t know what to expect but it was awesome (slightly like a pate).

We then got the lobster dish to share. It’s for two people, and it came with other sea foods like shrimp, and squid. Also great.

For desert, we got two. The queijada Ike a tart served with whipped cream and sorbet), and a flan like fish served with bacon flavored ice cream. Both were delicious.

For drinks, got a port tonic (their version with lime instead of orange and cinnamon), and an Aperol spritz. I liked the port tonic but didn’t finish it since I felt it was like a drink with simple syrup (ie the brain effect).

100% would come back to this place.

Ondine

We ate here for our last night at Edinburgh. Would come back here in a heart beat.

First started off with an espresso martini. Not the greatest but would still get it again (told them to remove their custom sugar syrup from the drink, which probably affected the taste). Then got a Cragganmore 12. Slightly peaty, but nit more than an Oban.

For appetizers, got the asparagus with crab meat, and the scallops. Hands down would get all of them again.

For the main, we got the see food platter (warm version). Would get it again as well (but you need a friends to be able to eat the oysters and mussels first you). It came with clams, mussels, crab, lobster, a baby lobster, razor blade clams (which are amazing).

Ended off with a cheesecake. Also really great.

Ubiquitous Chip

First restaurant we ate at in Scotland! Was highly recommended at the west end of Glasgow (near University of Glasgow which is why there were a lot of students). I really liked it (the friend I was with wasn’t as impressed).

We mainly loaded on starters first. Tried the scallops (which was my favorite), then a salmon dish followed by haggis (that Scotland dish wish I was willing to try but probably wouldn’t be keen on getting it again).

For drinks got an espresso martini and a whisky drink.

For my main got the cod with lobster cake. I liked the cod, but would probably skip out on the lobster cake next time.

Boston & Maine Fish Company

Tried this place to get a lobster roll in Boston, located at Quincy Market.

The combo also came with clam chowder. I will say the roll was alright (probably wouldn’t get it again here since it wasn’t as sweet as I thought it would be. Also seemed like they already added lemon to it, which is something I definitely don’t like). Clam chowder was good.

There are other lobster roll places in Quincy Hall. Would probably try those out next time.

Aki Del-Mar Mariscos

We went here for lunch when we got to Nazaré.

The sparkling wine was fairly cheap (and sweet). A 350ml bottle was only 10 euros.

For the main, got the crab and lobster pasta. Honestly, it was pretty good, but I wouldn’t get it again since the lobster was a pain to get the meat out (the shrimp it came with was good, and the lobster was pretty easy).

Idol

We went to this restaurant for our first dinner in Santorini. It was recommended by our AirBnb host.

In terms of atmosphere and view, I really liked this place. Got some great sunset pictures here.

For drinks, tasted the Macallen Amber for the first time (apparently it is a different type of “line” from the regular macallen). Honestly, couldn’t really see why it’s worth more than a Macallen 12.

For appetizers, we got the mixed salad, fried calamari, and Greek carpaccio (which is made out of sea bass instead of beef). I’d order all of them again.

For the main, got a lobster pasta. Also really good (although a bit El dente).

Overall, would come back. However, the group might feel a bit different because they didn’t like the service (and gave no tip).

Skinos

So this place has a really great vibe (almost Vegas like), good music, and really good food. We actually went back twice in one trip!

For drinks, has an espresso martini and mimosa.

For appetizers, has the fried calamari, the thinly sliced fish (what do you call that?), and the meatballs.

For the main (not sure why I don’t have a picture), got the lobster pasta and the beef brisket. Both were great, and would get them again).

Araxi

This place was definitely worth it.

I had already eaten before coming here, so I ended ordering just an appetizer (the lobster sushi roll, which was also good). However, I should’ve gotten the main course that had the pork and scallops (serving size was not big, and it tasted great).

Amici

A great Italian restaurant, with good food and a proper Italian atmosphere.

For the main course, I got the Ravioli di Aragosta (lobster and stuffed). Definitely happy with the meal.

For the desert, I got a crepe with ice cream. Also really good.
