Pho Hue Oi

On our way to Joshua Tree, we stopped by this place near LAX.

Of course, as it is a pho place, I didn’t get pho. I got garlic noodles with shrimp, plus a fresh coconut drink. The drink was not alcoholic, but a friend did suggest to add rum (which they night from Vuns while we were waiting for our entrees). Great suggestion 🙂

Xanh

I’m surprised I haven’t posted about this place. Basically we usually go here for happy hour (Monday to Thursday, from 4:30 to 6:30).

For drinks, I usually get the lychee martini ($8 during happy hour).

For the appetizers themselves, I have to say the pot stickers are really good, and so are the wings. The garlic noodles are good (but some people I was with do not agree). The meatballs are ok, but definitely not as good as the potstickers.

Little Green Cyclo

Thought I’d try a new food truck at Spark SF.

I ended up getting the garlic noodles with pork. Overall, it was ok, but a bit salty. If I did get it again, I would order it without peanuts.

Yard House

I’m surprised I have not posted about this place before.

To start, we got the Poke Nachos. They are a bit spicy, but overall, very delicious.

For my main I got the Lobster Garlic Noodle. It was a sizeable portion, and although I told myself I would not finish it, I ended up eating the while thing.

We also ordered beers, but honestly, don’t quite remember which one (they were also Oktoberfest specials). In the past I’ve also had some of their sweet martinis and old fashions, which are all very good.

Update 5/5/2019: I got the Vodka shrimp pasta, which I’ve had several times before. It’s great because you can choose the smaller sized portion, which makes it a lighter entry. Definitely recommend it.

Also, we got the lumpia shanghai to start as an appetizer. Don’t remember if it was great, but I believe I would get it again.

Sino

I’ve probably been to this place over 15 times, a and it usually does not disappoint (although it isn’t super cheap).

To start, I got a lychee martini (which they make really good at this place).

For the mains, we got the dimsum collection (and although it is slightly Americanized, I’m a fan), garlic noodles with chicken (getting it with beef is much better from previous experience), and chow fun with beef. With the exception of the chicken comment, I would get everything again.

Chubby Noodles

Overall, good food.

For drinks, I got a flight of sake (for next time, I would probably get the other flight that has the milky sake in it, which started with “No body’s …”). Of course, usually I can’t tell the difference between different sakes.

For the main we got the spicy garlic noodles with chicken (it wasn’t actually really spiced), the chubby fried chicken (which basically reminded me of chicken karaage), pork ribs (tasted good), and this salmon dish (which I think had some sort of cheese in the middle, which was also good).
