The Tap Room

We went here for our last meal in Dubai, which has an excellent view of the Dubai fountains.

Kept it pretty light for this meal. Just got an Aperol Spritz, with wings and beef empanadas. Would come back to this place for drinks and the view (food wasn’t bad, but mainly at a bar level quality).

FYI drink pictured below is a friend’s drink which was a cranberry mule. Apparently it wasn’t the greatest, but my drink was fine.

El Techo

Overall, great vibe (since it’s on the roof). Although there is only two things I’d be excited to order again.

First let me start by saying that if you don’t have a reservation, and you just show up, put your name down, and then go to Lolinda to grab a drink while you wait. When they entertain you that your table is ready, the hostess at Lolinfa will bring you to the El Techo elevators.

Now about the food. We ordered a good amount. We got the beef empanadas, the chips with guacamole, the half pound chicharones “carne” dish, and the pork shoulder quesadilla. From those, only the first two I really liked. The quesadilla is probably the only thing I wouldn’t order again.

Note (2/13/2021): do not order the old fashion lol. They put too much bitters.

Olla Cocina

Felt like getting some Mexican tapas, and this place had some good ones.

To start, I got the Mai Tai Pina. I definitely enjoyed the hint of Pina Colada flavouring.

For the tapas, we got four of them. All of them but one were good. From best to worst: the Mac and cheese, the carne tacos, the empanadas, and the calamari (usually I like calamari, but this one was not good).

El Porteno

I was walking along the Embarcadero on July 4th, and happened to walk by this place.

I ordered the “carne” empanada. I’ve gotta say, this is probably the highest quality fast food empanada I’ve ever had.

La Mar

We went to this restaurant for a friend’s birthday. I would come back to this place, and probably order a couple of the same dishes (given that when I went there, I didn’t have that much of an appetite).

For appetizer’s we had the beef and chicken empanada’s. I was expecting the beef to be better, but the chicken one was really good.

For a drink, I got a mimosa and lychee martini (I was surprised they had lychee). I will say, I wish the lychee martini was a bit sweeter.

For my main, I got the Ariz con Pollo (roasted chicken). It was good. I remember being a really big fan of the rice underneath it (and the chicken wasn’t too dry).

One thing I will get next time (although it is a bit pricey) is the adobo. A friend had it, and it was better than the dish I got.

Puerto Sagua

Overall, I think this restaurant was just ok, and not sure if I would go back.

For an appetizer, I got the chicken empanada. It was not good. Also got the coconut shrimp, which was just ok. The sangria was also not very strong (and almost watered down).

For the mains, we got (from top, going clockwise) langua (beef tongue), oxtail, shredded beef Cuban style, and oxtail again.

I have to say the only really good thing was the oxtail and the white rice (the white rice was cooked in garlic and butter, mmmmm).
