Ruby Soho

Mentioning this place even though I didn’t take any pictures (photo attached isn’t mine) since apparently it’s a great place for drinking and for Toronto finance bros to make deals. Need to check it out again next time (but maybe right after a work day).

Aside from whisky, also got the nachos here (probably would want to get something else other than the nachos next time).

Charlemagne

A friend took me to this speakeasy in King West Toronto. He said they have the best espresso martini, and he was not wrong (I didn’t even ask for it without sweetener).

To get to it, you need to go to Cafe Renee, and go through the unmarked black door on the second floor.

Byblos

Found this place on yelp. It is a highly rated place with four dollar signs.

Food here was great for the most part. Started off with Macallan 12, then got the crispy shrimp to start, as well as the beef tar tar. For mains, got the Wagyu beef kofta (very good), and the fried chicken (probably would get something else next time). Also had a side of their sweet jeweled rice, which was really good.

So this rooftop was on top of the hotel I was staying at (The Bisha Hotel). Got breakfast and dinner (plus drinks).

For breakfast (which $60 per day was covered by the hotel since I booked through Amex), got their breakfast special. I will say the scrambled eggs were a bit more runny than I wanted, so I would get it again, but tell them to make it less runny.

For dinner + drinks, got an expresso martini which was great (asked them to put no sweetener / simple syrup). Also got macallan 12 (actually got a bunch of them because at the time, the LCBO was on strike!). For dinner just got the bread plate and tacos (tried both the beef and chicken). Will say that I would probably try something else instead of the tacos next time.

Also, as you can see from below the rooftop view was great. So will be coming back.

Bar Hop

We stopped by this place on King and Spadina, and I will say I learned things from their menu, which is why I’m actually making an entry.

The picture below kinda helps describe where the various whiskeys are from. Will say Speyside use where most of mine are from. It even describes some of the flavors to expect.

Would come back here again.

Char No5 Whisky and Cocktail Lounge

This place is in the Marriott near King and Blue Jays way. We wanted to go to a whisky place near king and Spadina, and looks like we found a decent one.

They had flights, so ordered one that samples various whisky’s (Japanese, Irish, Scottish, and Canadian). The bartender seemed to know what he wa stalking about when describing them. We also got a full shot of the Bushmills since that was a pretty interesting Irish whisky.

Akira Back

Ok, so this place was awesome. Had a good vibe, and I really liked the food.

For two people, I recommend getting all of the following: wagyu tacos, sashimi platter, protein roll, King Crab fried rice, and show me the roll.

Next time I think I would also get the Rock shrimp to try.

For drinks, since they had toki, got a toki highball.
