1310 Kitchen & Bar

We went here for brunch, and fortunately the weather was great for outdoor seating.

Got a mimosa for drinks, and for food scrambled egg as, bacon and a side of ham. I will say the ham was too Smokey and wouldn’t get it again. Everything else was great.

Also tried the shakahuka as well. Definitely was a good try, and would probably get it next time (not just in this restaurant).

Sons of Essex

Technically this is a bar, but we went here for a brunch.

I would come back, bout would definitely order some things over others.

For drinks, mimosas and Irish coffee were great. (Next time I would also try the espresso martini).

For food, I got scrambled eggs and Canadian bacon. The eggs were good, but would probably get regular bacon over Canadian bacon next time.

We also ordered the mac and cheese with bacon. Highly recommend.

Also, will say the owner was very easy to talk to, and there was a DJ playing great top 40 edm music.

Cindy Rooftop

We lucked out and were able to eat at this rooftop at brunch. The rooftop is at the hotel we stayed at in Chicago called Chicago Athletic Association. One of us basically put our name down early in the day, and we eventually got in (14 people before us on the wait list).

Got the traditional brunch food… mimosa, and the Cindy breakfast (scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes). All were great and would get them again.

Also, the rooftop view is pretty good (you can see the bean from up top).

Tara Rose

Great brunch spot for a boozy brunch in New York.

This place has the standard brunch items (ie scrambled eggs, bacon, jalapeƱo poppers, fried chicken. Of course also got a mimosa, plus an Irish coffee, and some other drinks (haha, wish I could remember).

Bepo

Went here for brunch on the second day at Hvar.

Got scrambled eggs with bacon. Eggs were great, but bacon was too salty. Also, asked for a mimosa. The waiter said they didn’t have any, but in fact they did (got “champagne” instead, but it ended up being some sort so sparkling rose). Also got a latte at the end, and it wasn’t good.

Overall, it’s, not that I wouldn’t come back here but I think there are other places I would wanna check out.

BB Club

First restaurant we went to at Hvar. We grabbed brunch here, and I have to say it was my best meal so far.

For food, got the linguini and added chicken. It came with a while mozzarella ball, and the sauce was really good.

For the drink, got a strawberry mojito (since they were out of mimosas). It was ok (would’ve really had a better experience with the mimosa lol).

Update (8/5/2021): we came back here for brunch at the last day in Hvar (thought it was that good). This time got brunch (scrambled eggs with bacon). Also got a mimosa (orange juice was hand made). Both were fantastic.

Galpao Gaucho

This Brazilian steakhouse was a great suggestion by one of my directs (as an alternative to Fogo de Chau).

The salad bar was decent (and really loved the soup they offered).

The meat selection was great (from bacon wrapped meat to cheese wrapped chicken).

Blackwood

This is a great brunch place. I loved it the first time, and the second time did not disappoint.

The bottomless mimosa deal is definitely a good reason to go here. Only $22, and they are very good at refilling your drink.

The bacon in the middle of the first picture (not sure what it was called, but maybe millionaire’s bacon?) was really good.

We also ordered pad Thai. It also did not disappoint.

One interesting is the last picture, which was a shooter of some sort. It was a good start of the meal.

I would order everything pictured below again.

Little Skillet

This place is really unique since it is primarily a bar, but has some really good brunch food.

For brunch, I got the breakfast waffle plate (customized to having both eggs scrambled). I liked everything BUT the bacon. The bacon was wayyyy over cooked (not sure if that is what they were going for). Next time I’ll tell them to make the bacon not super crispy. I did however kill my plate (so that says something).

Mokutanya

Wow, this place had really good Japanese tapas (izakaya), and great lychee soju.

The atmosphere was also interesting. It was dark, they played too 40 EDM music, and for seating, you had to take off your shoes, and under the table goes underneath the floor.

In general, for the skewers, anything bacon wrapped was amazing (mushrooms, salmon, asparagus). Also, the sweet wagyu beef was good.

Other than skewers, the beef tataki was great, and also the “tako” balls (that actually had shrimp in them instead, which I liked better).

Also, they have $1 oysters from Monday to Wednesday (we got the ones that start with an “f”). And, if you check in on yelp, you get a free beer!
