Hell’s Kitchen DC

So we went to this place at our last minute stop to DC. It’s located by the wharf area.

Everything we had was on point, and would do it again.

For appetizers, got the shrimp cocktail and the beef Wellington (the beef Wellington is supposedly a must have, and usually not an appetizer, but we wanted to try it out).

For the main course, did a little surf and turf.got the 8oz sirloin (medium well, which they cooked just right) and lobster (we also got a side of Mac and cheese snd asparagus).

For desert got the toffee bread pudding. It was so good.

For drinks, had an espresso martini and an old fashioned. None of them made me hung over the next day.

Figaro

Went for dinner at this restaurant before seeing a comedy show at the Comedy Cellar in the west village.

For appetizers, got the salmon over crispy rice. Great choice and would definitely get it again. For the main course, got the scallops with trofie pasta. Also great choice (scallops were cooked just right).

For drinks, did the standard Aperol spritz (as this is an Italian restaurant).

Cafe Comunidad

We went to this place for our third brunch in Mexico City (15 minute walk from our AirBnb).

I got a latte and Aperol spritz. Both were decent.

For my main, got the huevos a la Mexicana (scrambled eggs effectively).

I would come back here, but service was a bit slow.

Jowong

This is a Korean restaurant in Mexico City, but we mainly came here for the drinks while walking in the busy area at Condesa area.

We had Aperol Spritz’s. They were excellent (although didn’t have as much fizz). Would come back here again for the food (they have Korean fried chicken, kimchi noodles, etc).

Buddakan

We went to this really trendy Chinese restaurant. The vibe was very night clubby, and also Gen Z.

Basically when you get in it’s like a Vegas style check in (have people behind a hotel like counter). After, you basically wait in the bar area before you get seated (even if you have a reservation). The bar area is actually quite large, and really good for a pregame (could also go to this restaurant without eating and just chill there). And the DJ was very on point playing great top 40 edm music.

After about 10 minutes we did get seated. We got the chow mein with beef, the dim sum sampler, and something that is like pop corn shrimp (it wasn’t called that, but basically an Asian version of it). Honestly, would get everything again.

For drinks got an Aperol spritz and whisky on the rocks. Can’t go wrong with either of those.

On a side note, there was a downstairs area which looked like it had bomb seating. Also, this place is near the Google office and Tao night club. Would be down to go to this place and explore the area at night next time.

Update (7/21/2024): we went back here for a friends bday. There was 15 of us, so we had to do a fixed menu. The menu is listed below, it I think the highlights for me were the lobster fried rice, the jumbo shrimp, and the cod. Other food was great, but it was just a lot of food (need to pace myself next time).

Patent Pending

Went to this speak easy on a Monday night in NYC. Being a Monday, no line.

I was pretty impressed that the speak easy is behind this hidden wall. And it’s disguise as a coffee shop. Also the place is Tesla themed (the inventor).

I will say service was a bit slow, but the menu looked pretty sick (like an engineering notebook from Tesla).

Got a Strawberry magic (it’s like an Aperol spritz, but tasted more orangey). Also got Toki on the rocks.z

Overall yea, like mentioned, would come back.

TimeOut Market Lisboa

Went to this place for a late lunch in the Baixa neighborhood. They have a lot of local Portuguese food. Ended up eating sushi at Confraria do Sushi (thought process is that Lisbon is known for seafood, so why not try it!)

Also, this market has a dedicated Aperol Spritz stand! Definitely took advantage of that.

Vic’s

We went to this restaurant for our first dinner in New York in NOHO.

Overall, great Italian place an vibe. Would come back here again.

For drinks I mainly got an Aperol Spritz. For food, we shared several appetizers, and also each got our own main (not 100% sure what most things below are called, but would heat each of them again).

Eva’s Garden

We came here for dinner on our first night in Mykonos.

For drinks, got an Aperol Spritz. For appetizers, we shared a Greek meatball dish called Soutzoukakia. It tasted like a traditional meatball dish, but still pretty good. Also got some fried feta. It was alright, but prefer mozzarella sticks.

For my main, got penne with salmon. It was great, and again, great portion size.

Pearl on the Cliff

While walking from Thira to Oia, we stopped by this place for lunch (city called Imerovigli)

Aside from the service being a bit slow, this place was great (from the food to the view).

For drinks, got an Aperol Spritz and a latte.

For appetizers, got some spreads (tzatziki and a salmon spread… really loved the salmon spread), as well as tomato fritters.

For the main course, got the spinach ravioli.
