Wolf – Hanoi Station

Stopped by this place for lunch.

Wolf is basically a cafeteria that offers food from a variety of cuisines.

I ended up getting Pho and fried spring rolls from the Vietnamese station. I would get the Pho again, but not the spring rolls.

Slanted Door

This restaurant is great if you know what to order.

From what is pictured below, the crab noodles, the beef dish and the chicken spring rolls were great. I was not really a fan of the ribs or mussels.

In terms of drinks, the first one I ordered want great. The whisky sour though was terrific.

PB Pho and Grill

As per usual, I did not get a pho dish at this Vietnamese restaurant. Instead I got this stir fried rice noodle dish, which tasted great (they called it the combination rice noodle dish, which has beef, chicken, shrimp, and assorted vegetables). It tastes great, and almost like a Mongolian dish.

Pho Hue Oi

On our way to Joshua Tree, we stopped by this place near LAX.

Of course, as it is a pho place, I didn’t get pho. I got garlic noodles with shrimp, plus a fresh coconut drink. The drink was not alcoholic, but a friend did suggest to add rum (which they night from Vuns while we were waiting for our entrees). Great suggestion 🙂

Xanh

I’m surprised I haven’t posted about this place. Basically we usually go here for happy hour (Monday to Thursday, from 4:30 to 6:30).

For drinks, I usually get the lychee martini ($8 during happy hour).

For the appetizers themselves, I have to say the pot stickers are really good, and so are the wings. The garlic noodles are good (but some people I was with do not agree). The meatballs are ok, but definitely not as good as the potstickers.

Bun Bo Vietnam

Grabbed dinner at this place in the gothic quarter

I got the Bo Luc Lac (beef strips), and had the spring rolls with pork. The spring rolls were terrible, but the beef strips were pretty good. I also ordered a daiquiri as a drink, and did not actually enjoy it. Not sure if I would go back to this place again.

Golden Era Vegan Restaurant

Aside from being right beside a sketchy neighborhood, this place was great. Even though it was vegan, all the food we had was delicious.

Here are two dishes we had. The first one almost tasted like real beef, and the second one was just plain good. We had a bunch of other dishes, but unfortunately no pictures.

Little Green Cyclo

Thought I’d try a new food truck at Spark SF.

I ended up getting the garlic noodles with pork. Overall, it was ok, but a bit salty. If I did get it again, I would order it without peanuts.

May’s Vietnamese Restaurant

Shouldn’t be a surprised I ordered the pad Thai. Although unfortunately I won’t be getting it again at this pace. It was super salty. I should try the pho or some sort of vermicelli dish next time.

I will say though the fried rice that came with someone else dish was pretty good. Although they did comment they thought the meet was old.

Pho Tran Vu

Gotta say, I thought this place would be one I’d go back to, but likely not.

I ordered the “Grilled Pork, Egg Roll, Vermicelli” dish. The egg roll was good, but the pork itself seemed off (like it was soggy. I don’t think it was undercooked since it didn’t have any pink). Anyway, my stomach was a bit upset afterwards (and I’m blaming the pork).
