Kost

So this rooftop was on top of the hotel I was staying at (The Bisha Hotel). Got breakfast and dinner (plus drinks).

For breakfast (which $60 per day was covered by the hotel since I booked through Amex), got their breakfast special. I will say the scrambled eggs were a bit more runny than I wanted, so I would get it again, but tell them to make it less runny.

For dinner + drinks, got an expresso martini which was great (asked them to put no sweetener / simple syrup). Also got macallan 12 (actually got a bunch of them because at the time, the LCBO was on strike!). For dinner just got the bread plate and tacos (tried both the beef and chicken). Will say that I would probably try something else instead of the tacos next time.

Also, as you can see from below the rooftop view was great. So will be coming back.

Beacon

We came to this place after a day of snowboarding.

For the most part, everything was great here except for one thing.

To start, it got the pornstar martini (peach based drink with a shot of champagne you pour in). This drink was great. Also got a lemon drop.

For appetizers, I got the wings (wings were good, but we had to ask for more sauce. Got the BBQ and something mustard). Also got the poutine (gravy was interesting, but still liked it).

For the main, I got the chicken fingers off the kids menu. I didn’t like them. They were not crispy enough (which is saying something coming from me), and something about them seemed too bland.

Araxi

This place was definitely worth it.

I had already eaten before coming here, so I ended ordering just an appetizer (the lobster sushi roll, which was also good). However, I should’ve gotten the main course that had the pork and scallops (serving size was not big, and it tasted great).

Banter Room

So this place is a sorta upscale bar and restaurant.

Cocktails here were pretty good (got a lychee drink, old fashioned and some random lunch, all of which were great).

We also got salute and pepper chicken wings, prawns and pork sliders. All were really good.

Tim Hortons, Barcelona

Found Timmy’s while walking around L’Eixample area in Barcelona.

I ordered 3 Timbits and a small iced Capp. The time it’s tasted exactly the same as Canada, but best of all, they came in a tiny box!!!

The iced cappuccino itself was a lot larger than expected (I ordered a small, and basically got a medium). The only thing I will say is that I asked for a shot of espresso in the iced capp, and I did not taste any espresso in it. Still great non the less.

Pickle Barrel

This place I also went to a lot when I was in University. Unfortunately, except for the drink I got, the food was not up to par (I’m willing to go back, but definitely will order other things).

I got the lychee lemonade, which of course was great because of the lychee in it.

For my main food I got the French onion soup (or good at all), and the Pesto chicken fettuccini (which was ok, but not ordering it again).

Ten Foot Henry

Found this place on the internet, which claimed it is one of the 10 best restaurants in Calgary. I would have to agree.

I sat at the bar, and the hostess did inform me usually things are family style, but they could do half portions for some dishes for people who come alone.

For a drink, I got the ___ Apple. It was quite refreshing, and not super sweet.

For a starter, I got what the waitress recommended, which was the tomatoes with whipped feta and sour dough bread (basically you mix the feta and tomatoes together to form a spread, as pictured below). It was quite tasted.

For my main, I also got what the waitress recommended, which was the chicken (half portioned). I gotta say it was cooked perfectly (not too dry, and the skin was the right amount of crispy).

Also, the ambiance and setting of the restaurant reminded me of a very modern, hipster, it classy vibe. Something you would definitely see in SF.
