The Original Black Barbecue

We ended up going to this really popular BBQ chain for our Texas experience.

For the picture below, we ended up getting a pound of lean beef, a pound of pork spare ribs, half a pound of fatty beef, and a half chicken (with a pint of Mac and cheese and a pint of green beans).

Honestly, everything was ok (it would have been better if it was less salty). The house sauce helped make the food not taste salty. For the lean beef, I think we can do with less of that next time (half a pound less).

Tank House

We ended up going to this place for dinner on our way to Reno (for burning man).

Gotta day, this place was pretty terrible. I got the pulled pork sandwich, and it was extremely salty. Also, the old fashion was meh.

So, not going back here again.

The Keystone

We came here for burgers and drinks.

I wasn’t too Hungary, so I just had the cheese fries and wings, plus and old fashion (for happy hour, it was not bad).

Next time I go back I’ll try a burger.

Palette Tea House

This is a great American style dim sum place.

The lobster filled dumpling along with the scallop Siu Mai are by far the best dishes. Also, would get the soft shell crab and fish (pictured below) again. The deep fried dumpling, and the soup filled dumpling, and the green dumpling below were good. I would not get the swan looking dumpling (looks good, didn’t like the taste or texture).

Finishing off with the egg tart was great. As for the drink, I didn’t care too much for it. Also, even though they served various sauces on an interesting palette plate, I also didn’t really care too much for them.

A.Y.C.E. Buffet

This buffet is located in the Palms, which is convenient if you’re going to be checking out Kaos (or coming from there).

The buffet was only $27, but you definitely get what you pay for. A lot of the food seemed like they’ve been out for a while (ie dry because of being under the lamp heaters for so long). The only two things I like were the coconut shrimp, and the corn. The ribs were terrible, and also the Korean short ribs.

The Table

So I don’t remember too much of this place (came here after a solid night of drinking at Vince’s place), however, we ordered a couple of small dishes (2 of them are below), plus some champagne (which was $99). I did like the ambience of the place, and would definitely want to come back (I recall they had a restaurant part and a more “bar-ish” part).

House of Prime Rib

For around $50, you get a really good complete meal with steak.

I got the house cut (cooked medium). The sauce with the steak was really good. The steak also comes with salad to start, and the waiter tosses it in front of you. For the sides, I got the corn and loaded baked potato. Very great compliments.

We paired the steaks with red wine (I believe it was a Cab). Great pairing.

Overall, need to go back to this place.

Cheesecake Factory

I’ve been here many times, but here’s the first post about it (and will likely get updated later).

This time around I got a “calorie-wise” dish, which was the “chicken pot pie”. Obviously, as you can see, it’s not a really chicken pot pie. However, it was pretty light, which is what I wanted.

Usually when I’m here I get the chicken marsala. The portion size is wayyy to large, so I usually eat half of it. (fyi, the San Jose sauce is better than the Palo Alto version).

And of course, As the name implies, I usually get a cheesecake. My go to is the chocolate chip cookie dough.

Gordon Ramsay Burger

Second time I came here, it was a Friday during lent. So, I ended up getting the lobster shrimp burger. Definitely an awesome choice. The truffle Parmesan fries were good, but a bit too rich with all the other of I was having.

I also paired it with a drink (can’t quite remember the name, but similar to a White Russian).

Marbl

So we tried this place on Boxing Day since it was the one of the only places open for dinner. And man, I definitely am glad we went here.

We ended up ordering the Marbl share platter, which included a 48oz steak, lamb, scallops, shrimps, potatoes, broccoli with cheese, and fries. Everything tasted great (and I didn’t even mind the lamb). Drink we’re also great (but not sure what I ordered).
