Cafe at Montserrat

We ate lunch at this cafeteria after exploring around Montserrat.

The rating for this place was 2.8. I would have to agree based on the pork and pasta quality. I ordered the 3 piece meal, and from the pork, chicken strips and pasta, the chicken strips were the only thing that was good. The pasta was ok, but something seemed off, and the pork was super hard and dry.

Kapadokya

We checked out this place as we were strolling around the El Raval / Barri-Gòtic part of Barcelona.

Overall, food and drinks were great. I had the sangria, friends and chicken wings, and all were good. Also, the place was pretty cheap.

El Bosc de les Fades

We tried out this place because of a friend’s friend’s recommendation.

Overall, a very unique atmosphere. A lot of different types of rooms (one room reminds me like the rainforest cafe). In terms of drinks, I got the Pima colada. It was alright, but I’ve had better. In terms of food, unfortunately they were out of things I wanted (ie empanadas). I ended up getting the ham and cheese sandwich. It was overall ok. I thought this place was very unique, but not sure if I would go back.

Lizarran

We dropped by this place for a quick bite to eat, where they served pinchos for only 2 euros each.

From the ones pictured below, the salmon with cream cheese was great, and the one with cooked pork.

La Tagliatella

Great Italian restaurant.

We had a pitcher of the Prosecco Sangria. It’s sweeter than regular Sangria, which I definitely like better.

We also got house bread which we mixed with olive oil and parmesan cheese. Mmmm.

For my main course, I got the Lomo Cosenza. It’s this pork tenderloin dish with a sweet thick sauce. I cleaned the plate!

Fleca & Cafe

Started off my morning with a (hot) mocha. This place served it in an interesting way, where it is layered and in a cup I usually expect a cold drink to be in.

I also got this small croissant filled with Nutella (no picture). It was insanely good!

The Alchemix

Went to this place as the last drinking stop of the night.

One highlight is that they have a page in there menu that talks about prohibition in the US, and if you shine a blue light on it, a secret drink shows up on it (it was called the red old fashioned). The secret drink was not that great though (because there was red pepper unit).

The main drink that was great (in both presentation and taste) was Beauty and the Beast. Look at the pic below!

The first drink I got was also pretty good (I forget the name, but it had white chocolate covering the rim, and some truffle mixed in it).

Esprit Chupitos

I normally don’t post about bars, but this one is an exception.

Basically they specialize in flaming shots. We got 5 of them (I only remember three of them).

The first one was the marshmallow shot, where we roast marshmallows and put out the flame in the shot before eating it.

The second shot we had was the the speedy potter (like Harry Potter) where we eat an orange covered in cinnamon, and then take a shot that was just lit on fire.

The third shot we got (kalashnikov) was a shot similar to the second, but it was with a lemon instead of orange.

The fourth shot we got (B-52) was a shot that was on fire, and then you would drink it out of a straw while it was on fire!

The fifth shot we got was the Lorenzo, where they basically light the shot on fire, they would put it out, then you would smell it, then drink the shot, then smell it again. The second time you would smell it, there is a strong kick.

Overall, this was an excellent place!

Vinitus

A great place to have tapas in Barcelona!

We ordered a bunch of tapas, but the highlights for me were the seafood salad, the clams, the calamari, and the second picture (not sure what it was called). The only thing I probably wouldn’t get again (although everyone else liked it) is the anchovies. But yea, I would get everything else again!

Many people also like the fro grois with beef (I thought it was ok).

Also, the sangria was refreshingly sweet.
